A small tear in the anal canal lining that causes sharp, knife-like pain during and after bowel movements, often with bright red bleeding on the tissue. Yeh aksar qabz (constipation) se shuru hota hai. Many of my FB Area patients have tried warm baths and over-the-counter ointments without lasting relief. If a fissure has not healed in 6–8 weeks despite conservative treatment, it is chronic and usually needs a procedure. Laser sphincterotomy is precise, sphincter-safe, and pain typically resolves within a few days.

Fistula (bhagandar)

An abnormal tunnel between the inside of the anal canal and the skin around the anus, usually following an old untreated abscess. Symptoms are recurrent discharge, occasional swelling and pain, and sometimes a small opening near the anus that leaks. Fistula does not heal on its own — this is one of the most important things I tell patients. Laser fistulotomy (also called FiLaC + LIFT) preserves the sphincter muscle, which is critical because traditional fistula surgery sometimes damages it. Some FB Area patients come to me after a previous failed surgery elsewhere; I will tell you honestly whether laser can succeed in your specific case.

Pilonidal sinus

A pit or sinus tract in the natal cleft, usually with hair and infected tissue inside. Most common in young adults. Symptoms include pain, swelling, and intermittent discharge. The older approach was wide surgical excision with six weeks of open wound care; laser closure is far more comfortable and recovery is much faster.

Perianal abscess

An acute, painful pus collection near the anus. This is an emergency. If you are in FB Area and developing a hot, swollen, tender area near the anus with fever, WhatsApp 0333-2877351 immediately. What makes laser proctology different from conventional surgery

Many of my older FB Area patients remember piles surgery the way it used to be done in the 1980s and 1990s — cutting tissue, open wounds packed with gauze, painful daily dressings, weeks of bed rest.
